The hotel is next to a peaceful forest at the top of the Öskjuhlíð hill, which is one of the city’s beautiful outdoor and recreation areas. You will also find the restaurant Perlan there, which is a place we always recommend to visitors. The hotel’s own restaurant is called Satt and focuses on Icelandic food culture based around fresh, local ingredients. The restaurant also has a bar which serves juice, coffee, wine, beer and soft drinks. The city centre can be reached in 20 minutes by foot, or 10 if you rent a bike from the hotel.

A nice spot for a day trip is the geothermal beach of Nauthólsvík, which is the only beach in Iceland where you can take a dip in comfortable temperatures. The warm temperatures aren’t to be found in the sea, though, but rather in an artificially constructed lagoon which is fed with geothermal water that has been used to heat homes in Reykjavík. The effect: a really pleasant place for a dip (at least in the summer).
