Hotel | Hotel Klettur is situated just east of the centre and makes a great base for heading out on excursions, with many local attractions within walking distance. The hotel bar offers a wide range of Icelandic beers.
Close to the centre with spacious rooms
Laugavegur, the largest shopping street in Reykjavik, is just a short walk away, and the Hallgrímskirkja Church is a little further away. If you would like to take a longer walk, you can head out towards Perlan with its restaurant and observation deck, or set your sights on Laugardalur, a green area which is also home to Reykjavik’s largest outdoor swimming pool. If you don’t have a car but want to head out on some excursions farther afield, you’ll find the city’s largest bus station, Hlemmur, just 400 km from the hotel.
"Klettur" means glacial drift boulder or rock and you will find that the theme of rock and stones and runs through the entire hotel. Both the reception and the bar counter are lined with stones, and on the ground floor you will notice that huge natural rocks are protruding from the walls in certain areas – they are actually glacial drift boulders which the hotel has been built around. This floor also offers a lounge and a game room. Here you will find a TV corner with Icelandic children’s shows for the little ones, while older kids (and adults alike) can entertain themselves at the pool and football tables.
The hotel does not have its own restaurant but there are several in the vicinity. The breakfast room offers a breakfast of fresh fruit, cheese, cured meats, bread, pastries and Icelandic “skyr” yoghurt with various toppings. The hotel bar is located on the ground floor and offers an excellent selection of Icelandic beers.
