This hotel offers you the chance to soak up panoramic views of lava fields, mountains and the Vatnajökull Glacier as you make your way along Iceland’s south coast. The hotel is accessibly located just after the exit from Ring Road 1, which is the circular route that takes you around the entire island. Use the hotel as a base for trips out to some of the sights in the area, such as the Skaftafell National Park, the Svartifoss waterfall or the Fjadrargljufur ravine – all situated within forty kilometres distance. Alternatively, you can head south west and set your sights on the majestic black sand beaches at Vík, which is about an hour’s drive away from the hotel. When you come back to the hotel in the evening, you can relax and enjoy a meal at the restaurant or a drink at the bar.

Although the hotel boasts of its isolated location out in the lava fields, it is nonetheless close to the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur which is about 25 km away. Here you will find a grocery store, a petrol station and even an outdoor pool with water from natural hot springs – if you want to take a dip and relax after the day’s adventure.
