Grand Hotel Reykjavik is a modern hotel located 2 km east of Reykjavik city centre, with 311 rooms, a gym, and conference facilities. Many hotels claim to have something for everyone – at Grand Hotel, this is especially true.
Large, well equipped hotel with an international feel
The hotel offers an international atmosphere and caters to both business and leisure travellers. The lobby, called Miðgarður, has an airy design and serves as a social meeting place for guests. The feel is international, with deep sofas, people from all corners of the world sipping a drink, typing on laptops, or getting ready for an excursion. All framed by flags, fountains, and a vibrant stained-glass window stretching several floors up.
The hotel has free Wi-Fi, a well-equipped gym, and is close to the recreational area of Laugardalur. All guests have free access to the gym. The spa is closed for an extended period due to renovations.
Many hotels claim to cater to all audiences, but this is rarely as true as it is at Grand Hotel Reykjavik, thanks to the wide range of rooms, conference facilities, and amenities. Grand Hotel is located in a quiet and convenient spot if you want to be close to the recreational area of Laugardalur, which includes a heated outdoor pool, a zoo, and a botanical garden. If you rent a car, there is plenty of parking, and from this eastern part of the city, it's incredibly easy to slip onto the highway and away.
However, for those who want to be close to Reykjavik’s absolute centre, geography may work against Grand, as it is about a 20-minute walk to the city centre (10 minutes by car). The hotel no longer offers free bus transportation to the city centre, but a city bus stop is located just outside the hotel.

At the Grand Hotel there is a conference room for each and every occasion. The largest room is 345 m2 and accommodates 470 seated guests. The second largest conference room is 172 m2. In addition to these rooms, the hotel offers a variety of other areas for board meetings, banquets, lectures, or other events, with a total of 15 conference rooms.

The less expensive rooms have a view of the airy atrium, while the more up-scale rooms face towards central Reykjavik or towards Esja, a mountain outside the city. Superior family rooms are not available for booking.
