Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon & boat trip (7 AM/14.5 hrs) (A10)

14 hours From $229

Combine spectacular views and natural phenomena with the opportunity for a short boat ride on this stunning glacial lagoon.

On the way from Reykjavík to Skaftafell, we pass some of Iceland’s most breathtaking natural sights. One of the highlights is Skaftafell, surrounded by glaciers on three sides, where you can enjoy views of Iceland’s highest peak, the 2,110-meter-tall Hvannadalshnjúkur.

The journey then continues to Jökulsárlón, a glacier lagoon formed by melting ice from Breiðamerkurjökull. We stop here for around two hours, with the option to join a boat tour among the icebergs. Right next to it lies the famous Diamond Beach, where chunks of ice wash up on the black sand — a magical natural phenomenon that is weather-dependent and therefore not always guaranteed.

During the day, we also stop at the powerful waterfalls Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss, as well as in Vík í Mýrdal. We take a lunch break at Freysnes (meals not included) and make additional comfort stops along the way.

If weather allows, you will also see several of Iceland’s most famous volcanoes — Hekla, Eyjafjallajökull, Katla, Öræfajökull and the Westman Islands — as well as impressive glaciers such as Langjökull, Mýrdalsjökull, Vatnajökull and several glacier tongues. Along the route, we also pass black sand plains, lava fields and the dramatic south coast.

Please note that the tour lasts 14–15 hours and may be demanding for young children.
