Golden Circle & Riding (8 AM/9 hrs/1.5 hrs riding) (C04)

10 hours From $248

Combine the best of Iceland in one trip! 1.5 – 2 hours riding and lunch, and then onto the Golden Circle!

The day begins at Vellir Farm, where you set out on a 1.5–2 hour horseback ride through the Icelandic landscape, with views of volcanic mountains and wide-stretching meadows. Afterwards, you are served a soup lunch before continuing on toward the Golden Circle.

Here you will visit the magnificent Gullfoss, “the Golden Waterfall,” which is often considered the most beautiful in Iceland. The waterfall has two tiers, and it is possible to get close to the immense masses of water that plunge into the canyon.

Next to Gullfoss lies the geothermal Geysir area, home to Iceland’s most active geyser, Strokkur. With Strokkur’s regular eruptions every five minutes, you will have several chances to witness the majestic column of water shooting up into the sky. You can walk among the bubbling mud pools and the steaming underground hot springs and feel the power of the earth beneath your feet.

The next stop is the beautiful Þingvellir National Park, where Iceland’s Althing, the world’s oldest parliament, first gathered in the 10th century. Iceland sits directly on the rift between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, and at Þingvellir you can clearly see the fissure created as the two continents slowly drift apart. Afterwards, you return to Reykjavik.

A day filled with magical nature.
